 As a publisher, I am always plagued with frustration: It is hard to find manuscripts that are really worth publishing. When I accepted College 101, I knew that there were too many "cute" college guides around, written, it appears, by perky former sorority sisters, whose biggest collegial dilemma consisted of choosing between a stripling blue blood and the son of an oil baron for the next formal dance. But does anybody really want to read about the perfect little college experience? Oh yawn! Instead I present to you the book that tells college life as it is -- warts and all.
While Guy will never win a Pulitzer Prize for his college stories, he should be commended for poking the seedy underbelly of the so-called institutions of higher learning. Believe it or not, those glossy college brochures and those happy recruitment videos do lie! What they leave out is the true reality of college life: insensitive bureaucracy, dilapidated student housing, buffoon professors, and eye-gouging prices at the campus convenience stores. This book will allow the college bound student to arrive prepared for the unexpected.
